Cork County Finals

Three players from Carrigaline Badminton Club took part in the Cork County finals on February the 26th.

U13

First up were Liadh Whelan and Eadaoin Coghlan in the U13 Girls doubles against Ladysbridge.  The Carrigaline girls lost the first set but made a great come back to take the second set. The third and final set then went to the wire with the Carrigaline girls winning the decider 21-19.

Then Eadaoin contested the singles final against Hannah Belton of Ladysbridge. Again Carrigaline lost the first set but fought back to win the second. This time however Ladysbridge proved victorious – winning the third set 21-14

U15

First up was the girl’s singles final with Caoimhe Coghlan competing strongly for Carrigaline but losing to Mary Buckley of Banteer in 2 sets.

Then Caoimhe teamed up with Aishling Bernhard of Ladysbridge to play in the doubles finals against a Banteer pairing. It looked very promising when Caoimhe and Aishling took a 15-8 point lead in the first game but eventually lost 21-17. Banteer then went on to take the second and final set.

All in all this was a very good performance by the Carrigaline players.
